Rode Kruis

The Dutch Red Cross (Rode Kruis) has over 35,000 volunteers. They work in their hometown or region, through the local departments in nearly all municipalities in the Netherlands and working together in districts. Apart from a rescue organization, we are an association. As an association we are able to act independently of governments or warring parties to provide assistance. Such assistance is carried out by volunteers. Within an organization, they have as members vote and thus participate in decision-making. The strong roots in Dutch society, this participation from the base regularly. And that is exactly our strength.
