MAV
The Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) is the legislated peak body for Victoria’s 79 councils. Formed in 1879, we have a long and proud tradition of supporting councils and councillors. Our role is to advocate local government interests, build the capacity of councils, facilitate effective networks, initiate policy development and advice, support councillors, promote the role of local government.
Victorian local government has an annual spend of $7.6 billion. It has 42 500 employees and provides more than 100 different services to people who live, work and visit the local council area.
