I found that your company can provide the Somnio – Premium SharePoint 2013 Theme. Is there any trial version can be download? How about the template changing scheme? Can this support SharePoint 2013 on Prem and O365 online?

Tim, there is no trial version for Somnio theme. Please try the freely available ShareBooth theme before buying Somnio theme. If you don’t have any issues installing ShareBooth then you should be fine installing Somnio theme.

Somnio theme is only compatible with SharePoint 2013 Publishing Sites (On Prem). Somnio theme will not work on Team Sites, SharePoint 2007/2010, SharePoint Foundation neither on SharePoint Online (Office 365).

You list the following: Four theme colors: Blue, Red, Green and Orange. How easy is it to modify the existing CSS to modify these colors?

    • Luis Kerr says:

With a decent web developing experience it should be pretty easy. It is just CSS.

Does a version for SharePoint Online exists ?

We started working on porting the SP2013 version to SP Online but Microsoft announced almost a year ago that they will stop supporting Public Website feature on SharePoint Online. So, don’t waste your time with public facing websites on SP Online.

My companies wants to use SP Online for our Intranet WebSite and for demonstration purpose

Concurred. We’d also like to use this for an internal SP cloud environment (e.g. Azure — but not OnPremise).

    Hi Luis,

I’m looking at trying out one of your themes and a question was asked previously but not answered around what level of access is required to install the theme? Is it site admin or a farm install please? Do you have a separate document for installation?

Also do these themes work on any site and not necessarily on a public website as you correctly state MS have stopped supporting this. Basically are they suitable for team and intranet sites?

Finally do you have a list of all your Themes that you have created?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions. I tried to find a direct email/link for you directly.

Just confirming this is compatible with an on prem 2013 SharePoint environment… correct? Also, are there any additional licenses needed once we pay the above cost and implement?

    • Luis Kerr says:

Erin, Somnio theme is compatible with On Prem 2013 SharePoint Publishing Sites. It will not work on Team Sites. Once you pay for it it is yours to customize it the way you like. So, you do whatever you like with it and no extra fees or additional licenses required.

Are there any modifications that need to be made in order for this to work with SharePoint 2016 On-Prem?

Andrew, Somnio Theme will only work with SharePoint 2013 Publishing Sites (On Premise). It will not work on SharePoint 2016.

Can I deploy your solution as sandbox solution?

    Reply
    • Luis Kerr says:

Sal, the short answer is Yes. But keep in mind, the theme is not a solution to be deployed as a regular SharePoint solution. Try the free ShareBoot theme first ( https://topsharepoint.com/shareboot-responsive-sharepoint-201theme ) and if you don’t have any issues deploy it then Somnio theme will be a walk in the park.

I am considering using the Somnio theme and have had no problems installing the free ShareBoot theme. My question is: Does Somnio respond correctly on mobile devices? Namely the top navigation area. The ShareBoot theme failed to put the top navigation items in the hamburger menu. Does Somnio work properly on mobile devices?

    • Luis Kerr says:

Rob, yes it does respond correctly on mobile devices.

Francis, this theme works fine in SP2016 as well. Just make sure you select 15 for “Compatible UI Version” when you create the new Master Page.

    • Luis Kerr says:

Danila, the best is to try our free ShareBoot theme first on your test server. If you don’t have any issues with it, then you will be fine with the Somnio theme.

    Hi Luis

I bought somnio a few years ago. Back then, I believe it was based on 2010 master pages. I don’t suppose it has been upgraded to 2013 master pages?

    Thanks

    Sam

Somnio theme was developed for SP2013. But, there is a hack to make it work on SP2016. You have to select “15” for “Compatible UI Version” when you create the new Master Page. Make sure you test it properly on your test environment first.

Paul, when creating the new Master Page, make sure you select “ASP NET Master Page” for the Content Type, and select version 15 like in this example: http://cdn.topsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/Avicia2.jpg

Shahad, Somnio theme should still work on SP2016. You just need to select the Compatible UI Version 15 for the Master Page.
